Australians Ekaterina Aleksandrovskaya and Harley Windsor continue to write their icy tale. The couple won the Junior Grand Prix final as it is the first medal for the country. World junior champions also won a quota for the Olympics in Pyongyang. At the Fukuoka (Japan) final they won with a total of 173.85 points. Two Russian teams follow in the standings – Apollinariia Panfilova/Dmitry Rylov and Daria Pavliuchenko/Denis Khodykin.
For men, for the first time in 9 years, the US has two medalists. Alexey Krasnozhon was better in both racing days and with 236.35 points won the gold medal. His free program was opened with a quadruple loop. His compatriot Camden Pulkinen jumped from fifth to second place with total of 217.10 points. For the joy of the hosts Mitsuki Sumoto took bronze with 214.45 points.
The ice dance teams started their competition today. Leaders after the short one are Anastasia Skoptsova / Kiril Aleshin (Russia) and their compatriots Sofia Polischuk / Alexander Vakhnov are third. Americans Cristina Carreira and Anthony Ponomarenko are the second, although Anthony is the son of the Russian legends Marina Klimova and Sergei Ponomarenko.
