240 000 leva (about 130 000 EUR) will be paid by the Bulgarian Skating Federation only for the ice for ISU World Junior Figure Skating Championships, which will take place in „Arena Armeec“ next week. The president of the federation Tatiana Yordanova, Hristo Turlakov, skaters Alexander Zlatkov and Alexandra Feigin with her coach Andrey Lutay met the media. It became clear that the competition will be more expensive because of the modern arena. For the first time it will not be held in Winter Palace of Sport. The estimated cost is about 2 million leva. Funding is mainly from the International Skating Union.
The ice is owned by Arena Armeec and will be used for the first time as the federation pays a rent, specified Turlakov. The installation is brand new.
If the Junior Worlds goes well, the federation may consider applying for a European Championship. In 2019 we will host Short track World Championships.
