Bulgarian figure skaters won six gold medals from the total of 10 from the international Skate Helena tournament in Belgrade (Serbia). The competition is part of the European Criterium and the next stage is Sofia Cup from 6 to 11 February at the Winter Palace of Sport. First places were recorded by Vasil Dimitrov, Maria Ilinova, Alexandra Mintsidu, Philip Kaimakchiev, Vayana Hristova and Ioannis Apostolou.
In the ladies event Eliska Brezinova (Czech Republic) with 143.81 points. Svetoslava Ryadkova is fifth with 95.02 points. Vasil Dimitrov won the juniors with a total of 142.35 points and Nicola Zlatanov was second – 103.32. In the name of objectivity, we add that the participants were three. In girls, Kristina Grigorova (pictured) is 13th (94.30) and Presiana Dimitrova with one position back. I specify that the debutant of the European Championships was third in the short program.
Maria Ilinova won the category Advances Novices Girls – the smallest category with two programs. The Bulgarian team collected 88.70 points. Ivelina Baycheva is fifth and Elena Dimitrova sixth.
The race is named after the athlete Helene Pajovic, who died in a car accident just 21 years old.
