Rafael Arutunian is known figure skating coach in the world, but he also understands well the situation in Bulgaria, because years ago was working with Ivan Dinev – our best skater ever. Arutunian in Sofia for the 2014 Junior Worlds with his student Nathan Chen.
„I have been many times in Bulgaria and like it here. The first time was in 1983 or 1984 for Student Games . Then I went skiing on Vitosha , later did summer camps ofn the sea. Bulgaria is a great place for a summer vacation. I love Bulgaria“, said the specialist .
As advice for Bulgarian coashec he added: „You used to have good skaters . But now the time is difficult for you. You have good coaches and they should continue to work. Your problem is not so much with the coaches but with the officials who need to help them. Federations , especially the Government need to understand that sport is the face of a country to the world. And to have success again in figure skating should be given a chance to professionals and to help them with financial backup. If there are money your coaches will develop good skaters .“
Note: Interview with Aratunian will be published after the competition
