The next rhythmic gymnastics World (Challenge) Cup may be 2 months away but there’s an elite competition right around the corner: the XVIII Mediterranean Games start this Friday with the RG part beginning a week later. The event format is just like at the Olympic Games (except countries can participate with more than 2 gymnasts): AA Qualification, which will take place on the 29th of June and the 10 best (max. 2 per country) advance to the AA Final (30th of June), where the medals will be awarded. Since there’s still no official information about the participants, we at Beauty in Sport did some detective work and discovered the 26 gymnasts that will represent their countries. Among them Italian rising stars Milean Baldassari and Alexandra Agiurgiuculese, winners of the recent Commonwealth games – team Cyprus and the AA winner Diamanto Evripidou, crowd-favorite Eleni Kelaiditi from Greece and the hosts from Spain Polina Berezina and Sara Llana Garcia. The big disappointment comes from France, who have confirmed for us that neither Kseniya Moustafaeva, who was expected to make her big return precisely at this event, nor Axelle Jovenin will take part and thus „les bleus“ will not have competitors in RG at Tarragona.
Here are all the gymnnasts, announced by the respective NOC:
Andorra: Judith Flinch, Jessica Pereira, Andrea Ramos
Bosnia and Herzegovina: Sara Azman, Azra Kadric, Ajsa Mujacic
Cyprus: Diamanto Evripidou, Viktoria Skittidi, Eleni Ellina
